Other Sights

After the first two days of touring Mumbai, I had collected a lot of photos from interesting sights Westerners do not usually see in their daily life.

An Oxcart
This Oxcart was "parked" on the side of a busy city street in Mumbai. The various types of transportation here is astonishing. From buses and cars to motorcycles and scooters, to more traditional methods of moving materials and goods around, such as the Oxcart.

A post office in Mumbai/Bombay
There was a time when delivering the mail took weeks or months. Luckily, that is no longer the case in Mumbai. A modern postal system handles the heavy mail load from the very populous city.

A shot of the skyline, this is a very large city
As we toured Mumbai, it became clear that the city is a mixture of high-rises and traditional architecture. This part of the city is fairly nice, but that is not the same throughout.

Part of a ring of Art Deco buildings known as the Queen's Necklace

The other side of the Necklace
Some of the nicer apartments in the city have a stunning view of the Queen Necklace, a ring around the ocean, a reminder that this a port city. There is a walkway that runs the length of the Necklace along the edge of a highway.

Another skyline shot, the white domed building in the center is a private hospital

A large shoe with a balcony, because, why not
It's nice to see that the local residents of Mumbai have a place to bring their children to relax. This shoe is part of a small public park near the ridge where the above photo was taken. It is a humorous way to remember that not everything has to be all work and no play.
